Manchester Airport has cancelled all flights from Terminals 1 and 2 following a power cut in the local area that caused major disruption. Passengers due to fly from Terminal 3 have been advised by Manchester Airport to come to the airport as planned unless you are contacted by your airline.

In Dubai, the emirate's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the study and design for Phase II of the Intelligent Traffic Systems Project. The new phase aims to enhance Dubai’s transportation network using advanced technologies. Phase II will expand coverage of the main road network monitored by ITS.

In other news, the UAE has become the ninth largest seafood export destination for India, according to D V Swamy, Chairman of India’s Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA). He said India’s worldwide seafood exports touched an all-time high in volume during the financial year 2023-2024. India shipped 1.78 million metric tonnes of seafood worth $7.38bn during the fiscal year 2023-24.

On the education front, private schools in Dubai will not undergo comprehensive inspections during the 2024-25 academic year according to new guidelines from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). “This decision aims to support the teaching and learning process for students and gives schools the opportunity to implement changes to support their development and improvement plans,” the statement said.

In addition, the Saudi Ministry of Education has approved the academic calendar for the next five years, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, adding that this will affect all public education, higher education and technical and vocational training in the kingdom. The upcoming 2024-25 academic year will follow a three-term system for public schools. This includes an eight-week summer vacation starting in August.
