The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has announced an extension for filing Corporate Tax Returns and settling Corporate Tax Payable. The new deadline is December 31, 2024, applicable to short Tax Periods ending on or before February 29, 2024.

On the real estate front, Dubai real estate developer Ellington Properties has announced the launch of Playa Del Sol, its second residential project on Al Marjan Island and fourth in Ras Al Khaimah. Scheduled for completion in Q4 2027, this development follows the success of Cala Del Mar.

Aside from this, Abu Dhabi Airports has reopened the Northern Runway (13L/31R) at Zayed International Airport (AUH) ahead of schedule. The runway is now fully operational for arrivals and departures following a rehabilitation project. The project included reinforcing and resurfacing the runway with 210,000 tonnes of asphalt.

Meanwhile, the Sharjah Police General Command has reported a reduction in traffic accidents and related deaths for the first half of 2024. The statistical report, released by the Traffic and Patrols Department, shows a 15 percent decrease in fatalities per 100,000 residents compared to the same period last year. Additionally, traffic accidents per 10,000 vehicles have fallen by 9 percent.

In other news, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, according to a report by the BBC. In a statement posted on their official X account, the IDF declared, “Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world.”
