The Communications Alliance has expressed some reservations about the competition watchdog's announcement of six principles of best practice in advertising broadband speeds.

Meanwhile the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network has welcomed the ACCC’s guidance to retail service providers (RSPs) and says it “should help clear up the consumer confusion around broadband speeds.”

A change to the Telecommunications Consumer Protection Code to improve safeguards for victims of domestic or family violence have been approved by the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

British spy agency GCHQ was fully aware that US authorities were investigating security researcher Marcus Hutchins at the time when he went to the US to attend a security conference.

The Gentoo Linux distribution has announced that it will be no longer incorporating kernel hardening patches from the Grsecurity project and hence will stop providing its own hardened kernel source.
