The beginning of a new year is always a time for reflection, looking back on the past while setting intentions for the future. Whether your New Year's resolution is to give back to your community, deepen your culinary skills, or make new friends, start achieving your goals by volunteering with Foodwise. 

Our farmers markets and education programs rely on the support of volunteers to help San Franciscans access fresh, healthy food, while supporting local farms. Foodwise volunteers go behind the scenes at the farmers market, make memories, and form a deeper connection with our diverse and exciting Bay Area food community.

Support Relief Efforts for Families in Los Angeles

Our thoughts are with the communities impacted by the devastating fires still burning in Los Angeles. We’ve gathered a few resources for ways you can help, including organizations providing emergency and food relief, as well as mutual aid crowdfunding to directly support displaced families.

Make New Friends at our Volunteer Orientation

Meet new people, gain skills, and give back by volunteering at Foodwise farmers markets and education programs. Join us for an orientation at the Ferry Building next Wednesday, January 22, 5:30 pm, to learn about ways to get involved.

Thai Red Curry

This curry sauce recently demoed by Chef Thassanee Ruthaiwat gives a spicy kick to your favorite winter vegetables and is best served with a side of rice.

Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: Featured Vendors

Chef and owner Raychelle "Remy" Howard offers a rotating menu of hearty soul food options from shrimp and grits to Cajun chicken. Visit her on Tuesdays and Thursdays this month, popping up through En2Action.

Inspired by their shared obsession, Rebecca and Brendan founded Signal Coffee in Alameda in 2019. Try their single-origin and carefully curated blends from ethical sources on Saturdays in the south driveway.
