Powered by electrically driven ducted fans, the five-seat Lilium Jet is designed for autonomous flight. Initial flight tests have included fore-and-aft transitions, left and right turns and a pivot on the spot, both in and out of ground effect.

Testing will build on the lessons learned in earlier flights with a smaller vehicle and the new prototype has thousands of sensors and a sophisticated instrumentation system.
