Hi, Do

Asparagus and Dandelions..... speak spring! So this e-mail is full of spring! ... because well who doesn't have spring fever at this time of the year?!

However, the realist in me realizes I live in Colorado. Spring tricks you and comes in with a sweet whoosh, then leaves with a bang for a few more days of winter. (sigh) Today I'm looking at the apricots in bloom, last week I was making chili in the crockpot. Totally a fallish, winter meal! But there you go.

I've included a video tutorial below on how I make chili with home canned ingredients.

Preserving Asparagus - Asparagus is one of those vegetables that can be tricky to know what to do with. Learn ways to preserve it by canning, freezing, drying, and pickling!

Recipes are included here.

Dandelion Jelly - Dandelion jelly is made with the flowers of the plant. This bright and flavorful jelly will make you look forward to seeing those ‘weeds’! SimplyCanning.com walks you through from harvest to canning.

Find out more here.

Crockpot Chili Recipe - On days when I’m doing a whole bunch of canning and don’t feel like cooking anything else, one of my favorite ways to make supper is to use my Crockpot. Sometimes I use it to make chili!

Video tutorial and recipe here.
