International Silent Film Festival 2022

After two years of online screenings, the 16th International Silent Film Festival (ISFFM) hosted its in-person festivities last 24-27 November 2022 at Shangri-La Plaza. The British Council, in partnership with the British Film Institute, proudly presented the opening film, Piccadilly (1929), live scored by Anahata in collaboration with UK's Sensoria.

Isles and islands anthology

The Isles and islands Anthology project, under the Connections Through Culture programme, is now available for access! The anthology explores the cultural relationships and shared knowledge circulating between the United Kingdom and the Philippines from the perspective of writers, artists, academics, and global citizens.

Our former Head of Arts, Malaya 'Lai' del Rosario, shares her insights and recommendations to the champions of the creative sector in the Philippines, based on her experiences working for the British Council's Creative Economy Programme and her years being part of the art industry.

Open call: International Radio Playwriting Competition

Hosted by the British Council and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), we are inviting writers from outside the UK to submit scripts for the 28th International Radio Playwriting Competition. This competition offers the unique opportunity for playwrights to have their radio play heard across the world by the BBC World Service's millions of listeners.

Deadline for submission is on 12 Feb 2023.

We Will Rock You Manila

Together with the British Embassy Manila and HSBC, we hosted "A Night of Rhapsody", an intimate reception to celebrate the culture and artistry of the United Kingdom. Guests were treated with sumptuous cocktails and were ushered in to experience the final weekend performance of the hit musical, 'We Will Rock You'.
