Education – Dec 2022

British Council holiday card for 2022

It’s a wrap for 2022!

The British Council wishes you a wonderful holiday season. After two years of online activities and events, we end 2022 with several firsts -- in-person engagement with our stakeholders in the UK, dialogues with international leaders at the Going Global conference, and further scaling of our programmes, all the while adapting to the new normal.

We are grateful to have you on our journey this year. Looking forward to a bigger and brighter 2023!

Philippine universities meet potential UK TNE partners

Early in November, leaders from MMSU, BatSU, PNU Manila, UP Manila, CMU and CHED visited the United Kingdom for a knowledge and experience exchange for the development of #TNEPhilippines. Our partner universities are gearing up to bring exciting new UK-PH TNE programmes next year.

Sir Steve Smith visits Manila

We're honored to have the UK's international education champion, Sir Steve Smith, in Manila. Last 25 November, he met with PH universities to discuss UK international education priorities and find ways to expand bilateral collaborations in education.

Going Global Asia Pacific 2022

PH higher education leaders joined international stakeholders at the #GoingGlobalAPAC conference in Singapore for conversations on pursuing equity in an inequitable world in international education.

Alumni UK launch

The British Council is building the largest UK alumni community - Alumni UK - to connect people who studied in the UK. Students who have spent at least one term at a UK higher education institution (including Transnational Education) are invited to join the global #AlumniUK network. Registration is free.

UK Alumni reception

British Ambassador Laure Beaufils hosted a gathering for Filipino alumni from UK universities. The reception, a first since the pandemic, celebrated the Philippines' relationship and connection to the UK through its outstanding community of alumni. Sir Steve Smith was also present in the event.

#BuhayUKStudent: Kenneth, Filipino computer scientist in London

Get to know Kenneth Co, a Ph.D. student of computing at the Imperial College of London. His research is focused on computer vision and application in machine learning algorithms. Planning to pursue an advanced degree in the UK? Don’t miss out on Kenneth’s advice.

QAA delivers training to CHED

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education visited the Philippines in December to run a TNE training programme for CHED. This activity forms part of the new British Council-CHED project where we equip government leaders with knowledge and skills in TNE for the implementation of the Transnational Higher Education Law.

Our work in education

We build trust and international opportunities that support efforts to promote international mobility, partnerships and policy dialogues; enrich the quality of education in schools; and enhance the skills and employability of young people.
