The Australian Computer Society has welcomed the announcement of a $525.3 million skills package in Tuesday's Federal Budget, but says more investment is needed to develop skills in the country.

The Federal Government has allocated an unspecified amount in Tuesday's Federal Budget to improve cyber security arrangements for the forthcoming election.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has been allocated another $38.3 million over three years from 2019-20 to ensure that there are no stuff-ups with the 2021 Census, according to Tuesday's Federal Budget papers.

Cyber attacks are increasing in volume and sophistication, causing regular security breaches affecting 89% of organisations, according to a newly released survey of Australian organisations.
