A Weetangera school was described as looking "like a sardine tin", the front page of The Canberra Times reported on this day in 1974. The chairman of the interim Weetangera school board said there were 130 children at the school who could not be accommodated in classrooms and even when the new unit at the school was to be complete, there would still be a surplus of 40 children.  READ MORE
