A story of bravery and a remarkable rescue was making front page news on this day in 1987. Five-year-old Kishan Kamal had become trapped in a drain when he was heading home from kindergarten with his 12-year-old sister. Once he realised he was stuck, he called out for his sister to help him but she was unable to lift him out. Passers-by had also attempted to free the young boy without success. In the end, help came from workers at a nearby construction site, who dug and chiseled him free while Kishan sat, immobilised with earmuffs on while they worked. READ MORE
