Much like today, fuel prices were a hot topic in the nation's capital 54 years ago. The front page of The Canberra Times on May 9, 1966, featured a prominent story about an oil company, Ampol Petroleum Ltd, increasing its prices for kerosene, diesel fuel, and dieselene.
