Friend, Since launching in 2022, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) has subsidized the cost of internet access for more than 22 million low-income households. Unfortunately, this life-changing program is on track to run out of money in just four months. Since I last emailed you about the ACP, the program has connected more than 1 million additional households. With each passing month, the program grows more successful even as it comes closer to running out of money: a true double-edged sword that could lead to a devastating disconnection for those millions of households if we don’t act soon. Thankfully, a bipartisan group of legislators in both the House and Senate introduced a bill last week to appropriate another $7 billion to keep the ACP afloat until the end of 2024. Even though this isn’t enough to permanently fund the program — and you can bet we’ll keep pushing for more — we’re glad to support a serious effort to close the digital divide in this country. Please join us in urging Congress to pass this new ACP funding bill right away.
