'Man severely burnt in explosion' was a front page headline in The Canberra Times on this day in 1977. A 55-year-old man suffered extensive burns when his Aranda flat was ripped apart in an explosion. Mr Leo Kershaw was found by the owner of the flat, Mr Ray, standing in a dazed condition among the rubble of the premises in Bandjalong Crescent. Much of the flat was destroyed. The flat and the house above it, valued at $51,000, were written off by the insurance company. READ MORE
