Actualizaciones de las Guas para la prevencin y el tratamiento de las infecciones oportunistas en adultos y adolescentes con el VIH El Panel actualiz dos secciones de las Guas para la prevencin y el tratamiento de las infecciones oportunistas en adultos y adolescentes con el VIH (Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in Adults and Adolescents with HIV). A continuacin, se resumen los puntos principales de cada seccin actualizada. Cytomegalovirus: Se destacaron las clases de toxicidad de otros medicamentos antivirales empleados para tratar la enfermedad causada por Cytomegalovirus. Criptococosis: Se recomend un aumento de la dosis de fluconazol de 400 mg a 800 mg diarios para el tratamiento de consolidacin. Se incluyeron los resultados de un ensayo en un establecimiento con recursos limitados, en el cual se administr un tratamiento de induccin con anfotericina B solamente por una semana, pero NO se recomend este mtodo para los establecimientos con un alto nivel de recursos. Se aclar que el tratamiento de la criptococosis extrapulmonar sin manifestaciones en el sistema nervioso central y de la enfermedad pulmonar difusa debe ser igual al administrado para la meningitis y que los casos leves a moderados de la infeccin pulmonar focal deben tratarse con fluconazol en dosis de 400 a 800 mg diarios. Se aclar el tratamiento para los pacientes con casos comprobados de antigenemia asintomtica. Se revis el texto sobre el embarazo para que concuerde con el de otras secciones de las Guas.
