Dear Friend,
Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!
Addressing Learning Loss
Recently, the Nation’s Report Card reported the largest decline in math scores for American students ever recorded. These devastating results confirm the catastrophic impact of unnecessary school closures pushed by Democrat leaders.
Families need help now. That’s why I introduced the RECOVER Act to empower parents to solve the learning loss crisis facing today’s students. Families deserve the means to ensure their children are successful in the classroom, and my bill provides those resources. Congress should immediately pass my legislation to help parents get their kids back on track.
Take a Front Row Seat in DC
One unique opportunity of serving in the United States Senate is the ability to have interns. While interning with my office, graduate and undergraduate students get the chance to witness our country’s lawmaking process and serve the people of South Carolina. I am currently looking for interns for my DC, Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston offices for this upcoming spring session.
Click here to apply or find additional information on my internship program! For additional questions, contact the internship coordinator at internships@scott.senate.gov or (202) 224-6121.
Spilling the #SCSweetTea on a Charleston Legend
This week, I am spilling the #SCSweetTea on Charleston jazz legend, Lonnie Hamilton III. Recently, 93-year-old Lonnie was awarded the “Tip of the Hat” award for his contributions to Charleston.
I am thankful for Mr. Hamilton’s impact as the first Black Charleston County Council member and his entrepreneurial influence on our great city!
