NEWS OF THE STRANGE
Suspiciously furry criminal breaks into home and starts destroying property Image Source: Sean Reddy You probably know as well as I do how important the Sacred Gaming Setup can be to any teenaged boy. I’m pretty sure my son would be in hysterics if a bear wandered into our house and started smashing his monitor.
Unfortunately, that is precisely what happened to one family in Alberta. I’m sure we will all keep that poor kid in our prayers, as I’m pretty sure “Hulk Bear Smash” isn’t covered by anybody's warranty.
Sean Reddy said the bear encounter at his Fort McMurray-area home began when his dogs cornered the bear in the family's garage. Reddy said he got his dogs to safety and the bear was gone when he checked the garage, leading him to assume the animal had left the area.
But alas, that was not the case.

This man vowed to eat nothing but potatoes for an entire year... How is that going for him?
A 36-year-old man living in Australia says that he battles food addiction, and he chose to combat it in an unconventional way — with potatoes.
Andrew Taylor made a commitment to himself that he would only consume the spuds for an entire year, and after only a few months under his belt, he says his new diet isn’t leaving much to be desired.
“I feel amazing,” he said. “Everything is going real well. I’ve got a lot of energy. I’m sleeping better. I’ve lost a lot of weight. I use minimal dried and fresh herbs, spices, and fat-free sauces, such as sweet chili, tomato sauce, or barbecue sauce, for a bit of flavor. I also use some soy milk when I make mashed potatoes.”
Does this surprise you, as it did me?

Could this simple invention help reduce germs that are spread by restaurant servers?

A new and simple invention could clean up the restaurant industry by helping reduce the amount of germs that servers spread when handling your plate of food.
An Atlanta area restaurant owner, Christian Valvo, said he was inspired to develop the new device based on observing how much wait staff touch plates that are given to customers. He even noted that some servers accidentally touch the food that customers consume, which significantly raises the risk of spreading germs that can lead to sickness and infections, such as coronavirus.
“I happened to be at a barbeque joint, and a server brought my plate to the table with his thumb in my coleslaw,” Valvo said. “I looked up at him and said, ‘It’s a good thing I don't like coleslaw,' and I just started laughing and looked at my fiancé and said, ‘I’ve got to do something.'”
So Valvo was inspired to develop what he calls “Thumbs Off!” The device not only helps reduce the spread of germs, but it can also keep wait staff from burning their fingers and hands on hot plates. How does the device work and what kind of feedback is Valvo receiving about the invention?

Rwandan refugee takes incredible photos of squirrels to handle trauma
Niki Colemont found it hard to adjust to life in Belgium. He'd spent the first four years of his life with his family in Rwanda, and the culture shock he experienced was insane.
Colemont and his sister were put into the care of an orphanage just as the Rwandan genocide was beginning. From there, they were adopted by Belgian parents — and their hardships were only just beginning.
But through all the rain, there’s a sliver of sunshine. Colemont, refusing to be conquered by his pain, found a way to bring joy to himself and the world. His work with squirrels is both hilarious and inspiring.
