Create a New Rocket Design - Part 3

Advanced Construction Video

This is a beginner's tutorial on how to design a rocket. The context is how to do it in RockSim, but it contains information that any designer would need to consider if they were starting from scratch. That is why we're releasing this RockSim tutorial as a stand-alone series. This video is all about how to actually convert your ideas into usable and accurate rocket files. This is part #3 of a 3 part series.

Previously, we added the engine mount tube and through-the wall fins. In this particular video, we're adding more internal components, such as the engine block, the engine hook, the parachute, and shock cord. We'll also add the launch lugs to the outside of the rocket and then run a simulation to verify that everything is correct. To finish off, we'll show the plotting feature of RockSim, so you can display detailed information about the flight of the rocket.

With two motors, it produces twice the amount of flame, twice the amount of smoke and twice the thunderous noise compared to a regular single-engine rocket. The RX-250-LPN is a sounding rocket developed by the Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space. This is a scale model (1/7.42) model of that rocket from ASP, featuring a 24mm motor mount and water-slide decals.

Lightning Bug Altimeter

The Lightning Bug Dual Deployment Altimeter is unique in that it doesn't require a standard igniter for the deployment charges. It creates a plasma arc from ordinary wire to ignite the ejection charge. So it is cheaper to operate than other altimeters.
