| Saving for the Future When Terri and Dustin entered the house, their dad glanced up from his laptop computer. “How’s the lawn-raking business?” Terri replied, “It’s booming!” Opening the fridge, Dustin added, “We have enough customers to keep us busy all fall.” Their dad smiled. “You guys want to use my computer to manage your money? You can track how much you make and where it goes. “Sure,” said Terri. As they looked over their dad’s shoulder, he explained how the money program worked. “Here’s where you enter the amount you’re giving to God,” he said, pointing at the screen. “Now, the Bible says you should save some of your income. So you could take one or two dimes of every dollar and put it in the bank. If you develop that habit now, you’ll be in good shape when it’s time to pay for things like a car, college, and a house.” It’s not smart to eat up all the food in your house. You should save some for later. The same principle applies to money. It’s wise not to spend all the money you make. Instead get into the habit of saving for the future. Bible Verse: The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down. – Proverbs 21:20 People in Bible Times: Joseph advised Pharaoh to save one-fifth of the food grown during seven years of good harvests.
