In advance of next week’s special legislative session on crime, 116 television and film industry workers, including several Academy Award nominees and winners, have come out with advice on Gov. Jeff Landry’s call to add electrocution and nitrogen gas to the approved methods for executing Louisiana prisoners.
Some worried that the loss of Old Navy could spell the end of Oakwood Center. But the owner of the Terrytown mall, one of only three remaining enclosed shopping centers in the New Orleans area, says it’s just the normal course of business, and that last year was Oakwood’s best since 2012.
FBI agents have arrested an eighth Louisiana resident on charges that he was among hundreds of people who stormed the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021, to protest the results of the presidential election.
