Affirming and Supporting Religious Education
This week, I joined Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C) and 14 of our Senate Republican colleagues in introducing a resolution to designate October 2nd through October 8th, 2022, as “Religious Education Week.” Millions of families each year choose to enroll their children in religious education institutions.
This resolution allows us to affirm the family’s decision to send their children to religious institutions. Families should be able to choose educational opportunities that best fit their children—and religious schools play a significant role in making that possible.

Putting Your Retirement First
For too many Americans, the security of retirement savings after a lifetime of hard work is too far out of reach. This should not be the case. I teamed up with Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) to introduce the Auto-Portability Act of 2022 to allow a worker’s 401(k) savings to rollover from a previous employer to a new employer—cutting red tape to help Americans who change jobs frequently to increase their retirement savings.
This week, Senator Brown and I published an op-ed in The Hill to explain the importance of why Congress should advance our auto portability legislation, which will help all Americans establish a more secure financial future.

Spilling the #SCSweetTea and making the grade!
This week I am spilling the Sweet Tea on the budding scholars in Barnwell! Three students earned perfect scores on their SC READY math test! Academic excellence is the gateway to opportunity, and it doesn’t get better than a perfect score.
