How much is social capital worth?
How many jobs, deals or opportunities have you gotten because somebody put in a good word or a friend of a friend hooked you up?
The tech world often holds itself up as a meritocracy. It's your coding skills, traction in the marketplace or that CompTIA certification that opens the door. But an example like WeWork founder Adam Neumann's failing sideways shows how meritocracy isn't exactly the name of the game.
