President Donald Trump is in Minnesota today, at a fundraiser near Lake Minnetonka this evening and at a rally in Duluth tonight. The visit follows a rocky presidential debate, marred by interruptions, false claims and chaos. The disarray prompted the presidential debate commission to announce it will make changes before the next debate. The latest on COVID-19 in MN: Another 16 deaths related to the coronavirus. That’s more than double the seven-day rolling average and the greatest daily toll since Aug. 19. But it’s less than half of the highest death toll this year, back in June. Nine of the latest deaths were in long term care or assisted living settings, and all were among people 65 or older. The deaths came as the week-on-week count of new cases remained stable, although among fewer tests. That raised the positivity rate back above 5 percent again for the second straight day, after dropping below 5 percent for much of the last week. Hearing set on the legal challenge to the postponement of the election in 2nd District. A 2013 state law moves voting to February if a major party candidate dies before the election — which has happened in the district now represented by DFLer Angie Craig. Craig has sued in federal court to keep the Nov. 3 election date. Elections officials are hoping to have the matter settled before Election Day.
