The Mac is on the verge of entering a new era
| The revamp to Apple's computers will reportedly be all about AI, rather than new looks or better displays | Apple is aiming to boost its sluggish computer sales by updating its Mac line with a new family of in-house processors that focus on AI, Bloomberg reported. Despite releasing its first refreshed Macs with M3 chips in November, the tech powerhouse is reportedly already nearing production of the next generation — the M4 processor — for release late this year and early next. The M4 chip will comprise at least three varieties, Bloomberg said, with Apple intending to add it to all of its computers. The report said the AI-centered chips are coming as Apple plays catch-up in AI, “where it’s seen as a laggard to Microsoft, Alphabet's Google, and other tech peers” ... | |

The first reviews for the Humane AI Pin are pretty bad
| The new AI-enabled wearable does receive some praise, but overall the new device struggles to impress | The first reviews for the $700 Humane AI Pin are mostly disappointing. Wired gave it a 4/10 rating, describing it as “too bare-bones and not all that useful,” while Engadget found it “finicky,” with responses to inquiries too long or irrelevant. The Verge called the Humane AI Pin “an exciting idea and an infuriating product,” adding that there are “too many basic things it can’t do [and] too many things it doesn’t do well enough,” though it did praise a neat trick that it does for restaurant reviews. In a piece that assesses all of the reviews for the Humane AI Pin, Tom’s Guide included the words “this is a disaster” in its headline. Fingers crossed that the second generation — if there is one — is much improved ... | |

The button’s mode 1 delivers “deeper, lower frequency” bass, while mode 2 brings “more powerful, punchier” sounds, according to Sony. In a hands-on review, Cnet gave the headphones an impressive 8.1/10, but in an unexpected twist said that some music tracks “came across as a little too boomy.” The Japanese tech giant has also released new speakers as part of the same line, delivering 360-degree sound, with the ULT Tower 10 including a wireless mic for karaoke (as well as a bass boost button) ... | |
