It’s been a turbulent weekend for ChatGPT maker OpenAI. On Friday, Sam Altman was ousted as CEO in a boardroom coup, with OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman quitting in solidarity shortly after.

Rumors then began swirling that Altman would be reinstalled, but it came to nothing.

And then Satya Nadella, the boss of OpenAI-backer Microsoft, announced that Altman and Brockman would be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team.

OpenAI said that it fired Altman over his “behavior and lack of transparency,” which “undermined the board’s ability to effectively supervise the company.” CNN suggested it was linked to a disagreement over how aggressively to push AI development.
