Aiken launches $1 million small-business loan program

The city of Aiken has created a $1 million loan program to tide over small businesses until federal aid reaches them. The loan program, approved as an emergency ordinance by the Aiken City Council on March 23, will offer up to $10,000 for qualifying businesses.

State extends license renewal deadlines

Deadlines for state licenses, registrations and permits scheduled to renew from April through August have been extended until Sept. 30. Continuing education requirements may also be obtained throughout the extended period.

S.C. hemp farming plan receives federal approval

The state plan includes new testing methods and sampling requirements for 2020, the third year of S.C.’s hemp farming program. The S.C. Department of Agriculture is reviewing around 350 applicants to farm hemp this year.

USC extends online classes through Aug. 1

The University of South Carolina said it made the decision to extend online classes through the end of the Summer II semester in consultation with state health experts. The school said most summer courses will be available online.
