VIDEO: The number of confirmed deaths from wildfires on the island of Maui has reached 93, according to the Associated Press. Officials say it's the deadliest U.S. wildfire in more than a century. The Maui wildfires destroyed much of Lahaina last week, with up to an estimated 4,500 people needing shelter. A Mobile Medics International team from Anchorage deployed to Hawaii to aid those impacted by the disaster. The team is doing medical care in the streets in real-time and helping the Hawaii State Department of Health set up a local medic center, which established a central care point for the west side of the island. The team arrived on Friday, but was unable to go into Lahaina, which is now considered the "hot zone," until Sunday.

Winds tested the lines on fires across the Interior over the weekend and there was no significant movement or loss of ground. Temperatures are forecasted to begin cooling this week. The Drought Code and burnable duff layers have been the main drivers to fire activity and are showing a resistance to extinguishment. Fires are expected to burn and smolder until snow or significant, wetting rains fall in the Interior. Crews will continue working on securing line, point protection, and mopping up edges of fires to ensure lines continue holding. There are currently 8 staffed fires utilizing 1,011 personnel in the field and 276,964 acres have burned statewide.

Five people were killed and several others injured in a house explosion Saturday in Plum, a suburb of Pittsburgh. The explosion destroyed three structures and damaged at least a dozen others, authorities said. A person who was initially unaccounted for after the explosion was among the five dead, officials said Sunday. Police have not yet publicly identified the victims, but officials said one of the victims was an adolescent. A little before 10:30 a.m. Eastern time Saturday, 911 dispatchers received a call that multiple houses were on fire due to an explosion. Responding officers and firefighters arrived to find "people trapped under the debris," Allegheny County officials reported. Four people were initially confirmed dead in the incident, Allegheny County officials reported on social media. The fifth fatality was confirmed during a Sunday press conference.

PHOTOS: New Bedford Fire Chief Edward F. Dahill changed the way firefighters fight fires. Dahill dedicated 59 years of service to the department from 1888 to 1947, and left behind an invention that made an extremely difficult job less difficult for all firefighters. He invented the first aerial ladder hoist, called the Dahill hoist, in 1902. Larry Roy, director of the New Bedford Fire Museum, said Dahill's invention really made a difference when it came to firefighting and helped save time and save lives. Before Dahill's invention, firefighters had to manually raise the ladder out of the bed of the fire truck. Born in New Bedford in 1862, Edward F. Dahill joined the New Bedford Fire Department in 1888 when he was 26 years old. He served as chief of the department from 1904 to 1947. He left his job as chief at age 85 due to mandatory retirement.

VIDEOS: A Maryland man led police on a wild chase from behind the wheel of two different trucks and then a stolen ambulance Saturday afternoon, striking multiple vehicles across three different highways, police said. The suspect caused a multi-car crash on I-395 in a stolen truck before stealing an ambulance that was responding to the scene. While in the stolen ambulance, he struck at least 13 other vehicles, and rammed a state trooper's cruiser, authorities say. The chase zipped from I-66 to I-395 to the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Virginia and then back onto I-395 and into the District, where the driver was arrested after a final head-on crash. Virginia state police identified the suspect as Darell T. Caldwell, 30, of Brandywine, Maryland. He is facing federal and local charges, and state charges are pending, authorities said Saturday night.
