Funding Navigator helps secure $50,000 for life-saving equipment

When the Elgin Fire Department needed to upgrade their aging hydraulic-powered extrication tools, Lieutenant Josh Smith turned to Funding Navigator, a new platform that helps fire departments find and apply for grants. With hands-on support, and easy-to-follow guidance, Smith secured a $50,000 grant from the Gary Sinise Foundation — far exceeding expectations and fully funding the purchase of modern, battery-operated tools. Even with many years of grant-writing experience, Lt.
