| Homer man rescued from floating chunk of ice in Cook Inlet near Anchor Point A Homer man was rescued from the waters of Cook Inlet over the weekend off the shore of Anchor Point, where he had been clinging to a floating chunk of ice. The Alaska State Troopers report that Homer resident Jamie Snedden, 45, was seen "floating out to sea" on a large chunk of ice near the Anchor Point tractor launch on Saturday morning. According to an online troopers dispatch, Alaska Wildlife Trooper Jeremy Baum arrived shortly before noon and saw Snedden about 300 yards offshore near the Anchor River's mouth. "Snedden was submerged in the water with only his head and arms visible as he clung to a large piece of ice," the dispatch states. The U.S. Coast Guard was notified, but it was unknown how long it would take for them to arrive on the scene, according to troopers. | Video shows flames shooting from three homes under construction in Kansas VIDEO: Officials with the Overland Park Fire Department are investigating what caused a massive blaze that destroyed three homes under construction in Johnson County, Kansas, early Monday. Firefighters were sent to a house fire call in the 11100 block of West 172nd Terrace around 4:20 a.m. on Monday. When crews arrived, firefighters saw large flames shooting from a two-story home under construction in that area. By that time, those flames had already spread to two other nearby homes — one on either side of the original home — also under construction. The scene was so large, additional Overland Park units as well as Olathe, Kansas, firefighters were called to help. Officials said the homes involved were still in the framing phase of construction, meaning there were no fire protection measures like smoke detectors or sprinklers in place. The "Loyal Order of the Fire Truck" keeping the tradition alive. The leading float of their parade -- not something you see every day. The 1950 Bon Secour fire truck is the inspiration behind Daphne's first Mardi Gras parading group. "This guy and I we bought the truck -- to pull in another parade and they didn't have us because they didn't like our truck - the looks of it. It looked like it looks right now. So we decided to start our own parade," explained the founding members. That was back in 1996. They admit they were "winging it" until it started to catch on and gain momentum. "And some years after that -- some of the city council members and the mayor came down and saw what was going on and road in it... And thought this is great. This is like a people's parade and they adopted it," said founding member. A big part of this parading group -- the kids -- making it a family affair. NNY 360 - METERED SITE Indianapolis EMS responds to nearly 70 overdoses over weekend Indianapolis EMS were dispatched to nearly 70 overdoses over the course of three days this weekend, a grim reminder of Indiana's drug epidemic that has surged throughout the pandemic. According to officials, EMS paramedics and EMTs have administered the opioid reversing agent naloxone 255 times in the month of February. A stark 30 percent increase from one year prior when IEMS administered naloxone 194 times in February of 2021. "We don't see an end in sight right now and so what we're hoping is that citizens will take this issue very seriously," said Mark Liao, Medical Director of Indianapolis EMS. Naloxone is an overdose-reversal drug often known by the brand name Narcan. IEMS stated naloxone was administered 39 times over the weekend, 17 times on Friday, 10 times on Saturday and 12 times on Sunday.
