There have been more than double the number of people killed by fire this year in Anchorage than all of last year. Fire killed four people last year in Anchorage and nine so far this year. The last fatal fire was reported in the city in September when a vehicle was found engulfed in flames in the Russian Jack neighborhood. An improperly discarded smoking material was likely the cause, Anchorage Fire Department Assistant Chief Alex Boyd said. The increase is partially due to more fires being reported in makeshift camps and homes scattered across the city. As people continue to live in those camps and homes, fire concerns remain high — especially since it's getting colder and colder outside. "Combustibles were ignited around the camping areas that took the lives of two of our members of the community," Boyd said. "  

A massive fire burned through the abandoned Uplands Mansion in west Baltimore. Video from SkyTeam 11, Baltimore's only news helicopter, showed the three-alarm fire burning through the structure off Old Frederick Road between Edmondson and Athol avenues. Baltimore City Fire Department officials told 11 News that firefighters were called around 5:30 p.m. The fire was elevated to three alarms and nearly 100 firefighters arrived on scene. Officials said the wind fueled the fire, making it harder to contact. Fire crews battled the flames exclusively from the outside in order to protect firefighters. "No firefighters are inside battling the fire. This is an old vacant structure and it certainly wouldn't be safe for them to gain entry, so again, we are performing an exterior operation right now," fire spokesman Kevin Cartwright said.  

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A special screening was held Monday night to celebrate Tulsa firefighters who are starring in Killers of the Flower Moon. The Tulsa fire union organized the showing, which is helping to raise money for the Osage Nation foundation. It took place at Circle Cinema and the screening was packed out with around 100 people. The names of big movie stars are usually on the marquee in front of Circle Cinema, but three Tulsa firefighters took center stage on Monday night. FOX23 spoke with Craig Deerinwater, Jayme Brooks, and James Foxworth, who swapped their bunker gear for 1920's gear and starred as extras in Killers of the Flower Moon. "My husband's like, 'Oh hey, your name's up front,'" Brooks said. "I just had a small part, but we're privileged to be here," Deerinwater said.

The group is encouraging more neighbors to go the extra mile in creating a more inclusive experience, whether that contribution is big or small. Halloween, a widely celebrated holiday for many in the United States, is a time filled with all things sweet and spooky. However, it can be a difficult season for children with intellectual or physical disabilities to navigate. The PFFASC claims motor skills, non-verbalities and sensory issues associated with disabilities can often affect a child's trick-or-treating experience. Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state one in six children aged three to seventeen have one or more developmental disabilities.  

Longtime Washingtonians will remember the major impacts that occurred 11 years ago with Hurricane Sandy. It set several records in the nation's capital and ranks as one of the costliest natural disasters in U.S. history. Sandy was the strongest hurricane of the 2012 hurricane season as a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 115 mph and a minimum central air pressure of 940 millibars. It weakened considerably before its landfall in New Jersey as it moved over cooler water and into an increasingly unfavorable environment for a tropical storm or hurricane. Consequently, the structure of the storm changed and Sandy was declared a "non-tropical" or "post-tropical" storm, by the National Hurricane Center.
