Japan Law Awards sees ALB celebrate country’s leading lawyers, work

The 18th annual ALB Japan Law Awards were held Thursday, June 2, at Ritz-Carlton Tokyo, showcasing the finest achievements of the Japanese legal industry in the past year. It was the first in-person event since 2019, after the pandemic pushed the 2020 and 2021 events online.

About 160 lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel, business leaders and more attended the celebration, with awards being given out in 39 categories. Around 50 law firms and in-house teams sent in about 380 entries.

Algo Legal, an Indian law firm currently embroiled in a defamation suit against some of the country’s biggest media names, has lost 35 lawyers, including four partners, to Argus Partners across its Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru offices.
