ALB January/February 2021 Editorial Previews

BOOKING DEADLINE: 8 January
MATERIAL DEADLINE: 15 January

COVER STORY: ASIA TOP 15 LITIGATORS

We are celebrating Asia’s top 15 litigators in the January/February 2021 issue of the ALB magazine. Profile of cases handled, clients’ recommendations, and the use of technology to minimise the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic will be taken into consideration when making an assessment. To request a submission form, email lynda.lim@tr.com. Submissions close Dec. 15.

LIST: ALB MENA SUPER 50 LAWYERS

In this new listing, ALB will pick the most highly recommended private-practice lawyers based permanently in the MENA (the Middle East and North Africa) region. These lawyers will be selected based on client feedback. Clients should fill out the online survey HERE, highlighting their recommended lawyer and why they are recommending him/her.

FEATURE: DISPUTES

On Nov. 27, the Supreme People’s Court and the Hong Kong Government signed the Supplemental Arrangement Concerning the Mutual Enforcement of Arbitral Awards between the Mainland and Hong Kong SAR to clarify some issues and enhance the enforcement process. We speak to lawyers on both sides on what the potential for this is.

FEATURE: OFFSHORE

The continued growth of global regulations will continue to have an impact on every aspect of the investment funds industry, including the Cayman Islands as a jurisdiction. In this environment of rising regulation, we look at how offshore law firms are assisting investment managers in Asia stay abreast of regulations.

COUNTRY REPORT: INDIA

India is experiencing a historic rise in renewable energy merger and acquisition (M&A) deals this year despite the coronavirus pandemic. The current calendar year has witnessed M&A transactions of around $2 billion, a 75 per cent jump from transaction volumes estimated at $1.2 billion in 2019, according to KPMG. We speak to energy lawyers about what is driving this.

FEATURE: ALSPs

Previously (unfairly) stigmatised as temporary worker placement agencies, NewLaw firms are today and luring over accomplished young lawyers from established law firms with the promise of a more interesting career path. We look at why these lawyers are joining the ranks of these innovative organisations.
