| Happy Friday. Here are the results of this week's SN poll.
Amazon continues to try and push its presence in grocery — the company will be offering big deals on grocery items during Prime Day this Tuesday and Wednesday.
We asked: Can Amazon bring shoppers back to its grocery offerings? And you answered: Nope, they don't get grocery. (75%) Yes, they have a plan. (22%) Other (3%) And you said: Michael Gallagher, Assistant Store Manager, Weis Markets I believe if they continue to partner with other grocery stores they can create a winning formula. Elizabeth Hemphill-Burns, Senior Director of National Sales They are not getting it, but there is a tremendous opportunity and I remain hopeful they will take advantage of the technology and synergies that already exist. Clark W. Sather, Founder, Nest Organics Using Amazon's vast consumer knowledge and shopping habits makes for a horrible shipping experience. There still is art in good merchandising. John Wetherby, Director of Sales, Delica North America They raised their minimum for free shipping to Prime customers to a number much too high. It used to be $35, now it is $150 for free shipping. Why am I paying for Prime to also have such a high minimum? They need to change this to a more reasonable number. Donald King, Route Sales, Skipper Management Why did they lose them? What attracted the shopper from the beginning? Answer those questions and you’ll find your answer. Ken Malone It’s called Whole Foods. People said the same thing about diapers and shoes. I remember Zappos but not the online diaper company. -- Have another thought? Weigh in on our LinkedIn poll here, or email the SN staff at contactus@supermarketnews.com. WHAT DO YOU THINK? |
