The Journey Of The Stroopwafel To Starbucks' Shelves

 

Stroopwafels are a delicious and relatively low-calorie snack item that most people had never heard of in the U.S. until a few years ago — unless they happened to travel to the Netherlands. But Rip Pruisken, co-founder of Rip van Wafels, is on a mission to bring the stroopwafel, which started in a dorm room 10 years ago, into the mainstream. And considering it’s now available at the likes of Starbucks and Whole Foods, the stroopwafel seems to be working its way up the ladder.
