Step into the driver’s seat of one of our iconic engines on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. Perfect for those wanting a taste of the action, this unique experience offers a hands-on introduction to engine driving. We currently have a very small number of Railway Engine Driver Taster Experiences available for the 4th of April, where you can choose between a morning or afternoon session. Don't delay, as these will sell out fast, but we will be releasing further dates later in the year. |
| Meet one of our friendly team who will show you around and take you to meet your driver-instructor for your experience. The morning session includes breakfast served at 9:30 (a bacon or sausage bun with a cup of tea or coffee) and a cream tea after the session (a selection of sandwiches, mini selection of pastries and cakes, scone with jam, butter and clotted cream, with tea or coffee) served at 12:00-13:30 in the Turntable Café. The afternoon experience includes the cream tea only, which will be served before the session. Please let us know of any dietary requirements. Experience 40 minutes of hands-on driving under expert instruction from Ravenglass to Irton Road and return, including uncoupling the engine in the passing loop for the return journey. Take home a certificate of achievement as a souvenir. |
| Participants can bring up to eight spectator guests (fee applies) – just select this option when booking. Spectators will travel in First Class Carriage 140.
