US homeland security secretary John Kelly, describing commercial aviation as “the crown jewel target” of terrorists, has announced new security requirements for all US-bound international flights.

American to buy Analogic checkpoint CT machines

American Airlines has reached an agreement with technology firm Analogic to buy $6 million worth of computed tomography (CT) airport checkpoint screening machines that the carrier hopes to deploy at US airports later this year following US government certification of the equipment.

House ATC bill passes key vote with “flags of convenience” provision

US Rep. Bill Shuster’s (R-Pennsylvania) proposed legislation to separate air traffic control (ATC) management from FAA has cleared a key committee vote, but a “flags of convenience” amendment added to the bill will likely make it more controversial.


FedEx subsidiary TNT Express hit by global computer virus

FedEx subsidiary TNT Express’ worldwide operations were “significantly affected” by an information system virus, the Memphis-based express cargo company said June 28.

IAG A320neos to be placed with Iberia

A previous IAG order for 20 Airbus A320neos will be placed with Spanish flag carrier Iberia, the airline said June 28.


Irish regulator to head up Eurocontrol

European air traffic management organization Eurocontrol has appointed the CEO of the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA), Eamonn Brennan, as its new director-general.
