Hana and Sona fled their home country of Iran to escape persecution. When they arrived in the U.S. World Relief helped them secure their first jobs as factory workers for Home Depot. Despite their strong work performance and praise from their supervisor, the sisters were eventually let go because neither of them could pass their English test.
That's when Kara, a World Relief volunteer, stepped in. The women enrolled in an English class and Kara helped them study. After years of hard work, both women returned to school and today, they work in the medical field—something that had been a lifelong dream for both of them.
At World Relief, we believe celebrating and empowering women is essential to creating lasting change in communities around the world.
Yet, today, millions around the world are suffering as a result of mass displacement, violence, oppression and extreme poverty. This endless cycle of suffering can be overwhelming and can leave many of us sad, frustrated and confused.
If you're like us, you want to see an end to this cycle. To find a path forward toward lasting change and bring hope, healing and restoration to women, men and children across the globe.
That's why we created The Path!
The Path is a community of people just like you who are committed to embarking upon the journey to lasting change. When you sign up to join The Path, you'll:
