In the flesh: New smartphone cases could use some lotion

Smartphones are supposedly designed to act as an extension of our bodies. That’s why a group of researchers from France have developed a series of smartphone cases that look and feel like they’re made of human skin. These lumpy, flesh-toned accessories snugly fit all brands of smartphones — and get this, they’re touch sensitive! You can pinch the back of your fleshy-case if you’re frustrated, or tickle it if you’re in a good mood. In response, the case will produce feedback and emoji reactions. The goal of the product, apparently, is to “increase user expressiveness.” If they meant “expressions of horror and shock,” they’re doing a fa ntastic job.

A phone case made of flesh doesn’t seem quite as useful as a phone case with an airbag.

Click or tap to see if this airbag case can protect a phone from a drop.
