"Story-doing" is a practice where leaders look to provide autonomy and opportunity to everyone, thus diffusing leadership roles and responsibility throughout, writes Larry Robertson. "The simple act of letting others do in place of you telling positively erodes the idea of there being one and only one gifted leader, even as that concept is so deeply embedded in our storytelling around leadership," Robertson writes.
Deadlines for a given task that are a week away are far more effective than deadlines that are a month away -- because if you give people a month to do something, they are more likely to completely forget about the task. Another finding from this study is also interesting: Sometimes the most effective deadline is no deadline at all.

Amazon hopes to attract more parents to its workforce with its new FamilyFlex program, which offers flexible shifts to accommodate family schedules and last-minute changes, as well as its Anytime Shifts program, in which certain employees can select the optimal time and shift type that meets their needs. "The purpose of FamilyFlex is to really make it easier for women -- and for parents or anyone with caregiving responsibilities -- to schedule in a way that makes sense for them," said Ardine Williams, Amazon's vice president of workforce development.
Some of humanity's first space-grown chili peppers have been consumed in orbit, taco-style.
