Well, it’s been quite a news cycle over the past few days. Roller-coaster rides on the political, legal and international fronts. Marketers still need to find time to pay attention to something figuratively closer to home. For our North American audience, Europe may seem a long way away. Via internet, it’s only seconds. That’s why any brand with more than 50 employees and reach into Europe needs to get familiar with the E.U.’s Digital Services Act.
The Act provides wide-ranging mechanisms for constraining illegal and inappropriate online behavior. From August 2023, it applied only to behemoths like Google and Facebook, but from tomorrow it will apply to all but very small businesses. Time to get on top of what that means.
