Now for the news - the chief executive of the mobile industry lobby group, Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association, Chris Althaus, has stepped down after 15 years in the role following the organisation's annual general body meeting which was held on Thursday.

Argentina's official country portal has been hit by malicious attackers using the Windows REVil ransomware who claim they have exfiltrated 50GB of information.
Shipments of traditional PCs — notebooks, desktops and workstations — in Europe, the Middle East and Africa will come to 82.7 million units this year, a 12.7% increase year-on-year, the technology analyst firm IDC says, adding that with the effect of the pandemic not expected to lessen in any way, the demand for devices that could be used for working from home would be strong through 2020 and into the first half of 2021.

Expenditure on cloud infrastructure services in China grew by 65% in the third quarter to cross US$5 billion (A$6.78 billion), a rise of more than US$750 million in the second quarter and nearly US$2 billion more than the corresponding period in 2019, the technology analyst firm Canalys says.
India's true wireless stereo hearables market took off in the third quarter, with growth of 723% year-on-year, the technology analyst firm Counterpoint Research says, adding that this was one of the few segments that managed to defy the economic slowdown in the country.
Software and technology provider Lancom Technology has appointed Chong Looi to the new role of chief product / technology officer.
