Your weekly digest of Toronto food news
Dear reader, Are you a snowbird who voluntarily clipped your own wings this winter? Or did you cancel your March Break getaway to [insert American city here]? Maybe a trip was never in the cards because the cost of living was too high even before the word “tariff” invaded our everyday lexicon. Well, this week’s Table Talk has you covered with a few different ways to take a vacation without leaving Toronto. Our top story is Runway 06, a 12,000-square-foot air-travel-themed supper club in the Entertainment District. It comes to us from Sanjay Singhal, owner of bougie King West bar Coffee Oysters Champagne, who wanted to open something a little more transportive. Guests are given “boarding passes” upon entry, big-screen televisions display paradisiacal scenes of tropical destinations, there’s a VIP departures lounge (access is granted if a host-slash-attendant writes “first class” on your pass) and live cabaret performances just might involve risqué takes on the in-flight safety demonstration (yes, folks, an actual safety dance). All this plus tons of leg room and zero chance of landing upside down. For more of our food-and-drink coverage, visit torontolife.com or subscribe to our print edition. |

Toronto’s new supper club, Runway 06, is all about the allure of air travel—but with better food, full-size washrooms and no crash landings. At the very least, you can pretend you’re waiting for a flight in a fancy airport lounge. Click the button below to see what’s on the menu. Bonus: there are more than two options. |

| General Public is offering a trip to Margaritaville by way of Bangkok with their twist on the tropical cocktail. The Thai Margarita was inspired by the flavours of tom yum, so where there’s typically lime and orange liqueur, there’s galangal, makrut leaf, lemongrass and…fish sauce. It’s sweet, savoury and so good. |

| The knafeh chocolate bar has become the viral treat the world can’t resist. Invented by Dubai’s FIX Dessert Chocolatier to mimic the flavours of the middle-eastern confection, it’s been blowing up social media feeds for a year now. Can’t make it to the UAE to score the real deal? There’s an army of copycats in Toronto, including pillowy doughnuts and pistachio-crusted croissants. |
