| By Bob Warren Losing people: Population is falling across most of Louisiana, save for a little growth in some suburban areas, the latest Census data shows us. The pandemic hasn't helped. Neither have recent hurricanes. Orleans and Jefferson parishes both dropped by more than 7,000 people. But St. Tammany and St. Bernard did see some growth. Jeff Adelson has the details. Contempt: A defense attorney was booked into jail Thursday night after a New Orleans judge held him in contempt when he didn't show up for a murder trial he was defending in her court. The attorney had left her court to represent a client in another murder trial, this one one in Jefferson Parish, Jillian Kramer reports. Showdown: The working relationship between New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the City Council can sometimes get a little, uh, testy. Ben Myers has the latest skirmish. What lies beneath: When a contractor removed some damaged metal siding from an old building on Valance Street recently, a little New Orleans history emerged. Beneath that siding lay a number of signs that had been hand-painted onto the wooden clapnboard.
