Sometimes a piece of architecture can define a country, or in today’s case, a city’s waterfront. Curb Appeal’s top post this week features Monde Condominiums by Moshe Safdie, the renowned architect behind Montreal’s Habitat 67 and Ottawa’s National Gallery. A new build by a starchitect like Safdie is a coup for any city—most people can’t say they live in a work of art. But, in Toronto, such a claim will be far more common as several high-profile residences come to completion. 

Frank Gehry’s Forma, for example, broke ground in the Entertainment District last summer. The One, by Foster and Partners, continues to rise in Yorkville. And Bjarke Ingels’s King Toronto—a Safdie clone for the 21st century—will soon welcome Elton John and David Furnish as residents.
