Clearly, many in the media are all-in on the idea of winning a trade show, passing along order totals as if they held the same short-term relevance as a golf reporter's major-tournament leaderboard updates.


LaudaMotion, Lufthansa leasing contract dispute goes to British court

A London court said July 20 it will schedule proceedings Nov. 19 to hear a case between Austria-based LaudaMotion and Germany’s Lufthansa over aircraft leasing contracts.

Delta, WestJet finalize transborder JV

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines and Calgary-based WestJet have signed a definitive agreement to form an antitrust-immunized transborder joint venture (JV), finalizing the details of a proposed partnership announced in late 2017 via the signing of an MOU.


US House bill gives protection from threatening UAVs

A bill introduced in the US House on July 17 by Reps. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) and Steve Chabot (R-Ohio) would provide the Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Justice (DOJ) authorities to protect buildings and people from threatening unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The world’s commercial aircraft duopoly once again scored big at an otherwise lackluster Farnborough Air Show with Airbus and Boeing announcing firm net orders and commitments for more than 960 aircraft, valued at $160 billion at list prices.


EU transport chief warns against rising nationalism

Henrik Hololei, the European Commission’s DG for mobility and transport—known as MOVE—has warned against a reverse “to a purely nationalist agenda,” and cautioned that Western nations risk undermining their leadership role in global aviation.

Ryanair inks recognition agreement with Italy’s cabin crew union

Irish LCC Ryanair has signed a recognition agreement with the Italian union FIT CISL, which will now join ANPAC and ANPAV as a joint negotiating body for directly employed cabin crew in Italy.
