Got “Maskne?” How to address an ugly situationHave you noticed pimples forming on your face despite your teenage years being long since passed? If so, don’t panic — it might just be “Maskne,” or acne caused by frequent mask-wearing. Because a mask covers both your mouth and nose, it makes the environment around your face more humid. This excess moisture combined with the friction of cloth against your skin can create mild irritation like pimples and rashes, much like what happens under your clothes during a hot summer day. Fortunately, Maskne is easy to fix: Instead of wearing your mask all day long, take it off when you’re safe indoors at home. In addition, you might want to start washing your face twice a day to keep it free of oil and dead skin cells. At the very least, the threat of Maskne shouldn’t stop you from wearing a mask when you’re out and about. Even if you have a bad pimple, the mask will make sure that nobody can see it! If your mask isn’t comfortable, you might want to make your own with some softer fabric. Tap or click here to see how to make a DIY mask. → |
