Dear Voornaam,

I will make no apology for starting with the Calcutta Cup. What a match, what a performance, and what a player Scotland have in Duhan van der Merwe. Rugby Correspondent Graham Bean has been catching up with the try hero in the wake of Saturday's four-in-a-row win. Scotland now have a break before travelling to Rome before the penultimate match with Italy. Unlikely perhaps, but they can still do it!

Staying in sport, and a big breaking story this afternoon as Andy Murray has admitted that his retirement is close after a great win in Dubai. "I'll do the best that I can these last few months" he has said. Sport Editor Mark Atkinson has the story here

The news agenda has been dominated with the comments made by former Tory deputy party chairman Lee Anderson which saw him lose the whip. He has refused to apologise for claiming “Islamists” had “got control” of Sadiq Khan and London. First Minister Humza Yousaf has entered the row today calling on Rishi Sunak to “lead from the front” and tackle Islamophobia within the Conservative Party. He has demanded the PM instigate an independent, external review of the issue. We have heard from Mr Sunak today as he broke his silence on the matter to denounce Mr Anderson’s comments as “wrong”. Pressure will continue to mount on him to go much further.

Meanwhile, my favourite story of the day has to be the 'world's smallest lighthouse'. We have a piece which looks inside the structure in North Queensferry and a fabulous video with the man charged with its upkeep - and keeping it powered with vegetable oil.

Have a great evening

Alan
