Biography
I am a British born artist living in Seattle since 2001. I am a mixed medium artist working in oil paint, found objects and recycled materials creating 2 and 3 dimensional artworks and installations
I consider myself a lifelong artist, and from an early age I surrounded myself with art making. My mother and grandmother were both artists, their skills were often put to use in a more practical and domestic environment, but their approach to life instilled in me creative possibilities in everyday objects and situations.
As a process driven artist, my work is generated in response to the materials that I use together with the techniques and processes that I have developed. I am interested in texture and surface and playing with non-precious unconventional materials. I often embed familiar items beneath the surface to give a fresh unexpected texture and to create dialog.
Following an intuitive path, where disrespect for conventions are primary, I seek to create beautiful messy imperfections
My intention is to honor the mundane and tell the story of moments in time, valuing those small pieces that make up the seemingly average - knowing that they are important and can be seen, if you know how to look.
I surrender to the rules of chance and natural intuition as I make and play.
