Biography
INTRODUCTIONS
Hello! Thanks for visiting my website I hope you enjoy perusing the images and the journey I am on!
Primarily self taught, I attend workshops regularly and actively seek instruction from many renown artists including mentor, Nancy Nowak. I also learn from and am influenced daily by several communities of artists/friends. I seek to grow my artistic skills by maintaining a daily practice where I explore varied genres, techniques, materials and mark making. I try to maintain an attitude of playful curiosity versus self criticism which I am reminded of by my grand daughter (and always makes me smile!):
"I'm going to my studio now to be an artist and it's going to be amazing!" Emma (my artist grand daughter, 4 years old)
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am an award winning and published impressionist pastel artist with an eclectic portfolio. Nature, people and life experiences guides and inspires my subject matter as I work to capture the unique qualities of the fleeting moments that are the substance of life. It is quite the spiritual experience during the painting process when I put pigment onto paper and I see the interplay of form, light and color telling a special story. This creative process has become an addiction from which I hope I never recover! When a viewer of my art experiences an emotional connection, I feel fulfilled as an artist.
