In this week’s newsletter, Kathleen dives into her hit class on how to get off the couch and onto a local board or commission. Nash offers a sobering take in Complete Colorado on the state’s looming budget mess. Dave breaks down a recent US Supreme Court ruling, and Rob asks the big question: will the US Supreme Court keep reeling power away from the so-called Deep State and back into the hands of the people? |
| | We welcomed our summer interns in our Future Leaders program. Over the course of the summer, they will learn what it is like to work at a think tank and how they can continue to make a difference when their internship ends.
If you know someone who would be interested in joining our Future Leaders program, please reach out to Kathleen Chandler. |

Tired of yelling at your TV or doom-scrolling through government overreach? It’s time to get off the sidelines and into the game. The Citizen’s Guide to Civic Involvement workshop will show you where the real power is—right in your own community—and how you can actually use it. With over 5,000 governments statewide, there are plenty of chances to rein in the madness by simply volunteering for a board or commission. It's like fantasy football, but instead of stats, you’re tackling bad policy. If you care about liberty and Colorado’s future, show up, speak up, and do your part. Stop complaining and start taking back your community. To register for my class, go to the “Events” section of this newsletter and start being part of the solution. -Kathleen Chandler, Director, Citizen Involvement Project |

Last week, Complete Colorado published my article HouseBill 1335: Colorado’s sweetheart tax credits breaking the bank. The short of it is this:
HB-1335 affects the availability of two of Colorado’s most significant tax cuts, the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Family Affordability Tax Credit (FATC), so that the tax cuts will not be turned off even if the state does not collect enough revenue to fund them.
Remember this year’s budget crisis? Well, now HB-1335 could exacerbate future budget crises because the legislature is obligated to fund these tax credits despite lacking sufficient revenue to do so.
To learn more, read my article here.

Devil's Advocate with Jon Caldara is a current events show not to be missed. Each week it features lively - and sometimes heated - debates between elected officials, journalists, activists, concerned citizens, subject-matter experts, and hard-pressing host Jon Caldara, president of the Independence Institute. Jon is not afraid to express his "free-market" views, and his guests are not afraid to take on those opinions. It all makes for an informative, lively public affairs program. |
